THE DOMINO COLLECTION BY TALENTI

We had the pleasure of talking to Marco Acerbis, architect and designer.

Class of 1973, after an experience at Foster+Partners in London, he founded his studio in Bergamo in 2004. Since then, he has dealt with architecture and product design and has worked on dozens of projects. We went deep in his relationship with the Talenti Outdoor Living company and he told us about the main features of Domino, the new outdoor furniture collection presented last September.

How did your relationship with Talenti Outdoor Living come about and how has it evolved over the years?

“My collaboration with Talenti started three years ago: in a short time, thanks to mutual respect and operational synergy, we have developed several high profile collections, greatly expanding the offer and allowing the company to become internationally renowned, thus reconfirming the primary role of Italian design “.

For the company, Acerbis designed the Eden and Cleo series. From this collaboration was also born the new Domino collection, which was premiered at the last edition of the Maison et Objet fair in Paris.

Domino is the latest series of outdoor furniture you have designed for Talenti. What are its features and pros?

“The Domino collection is made up of the combination of three materials – aluminum, fabric and wood – that, depending on functional and aesthetic needs, swap roles to give a sense of softness and comfort. The structure is drowned in the cushions that surround it, leaving small details of great value in sight.”

The Domino collection includes sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables and coffee tables. The structures are all made of powder coated aluminum in white and graphite colors, table tops are in marble or teak wood. The furnishings have removable, easy-to-wash and weather resistant cushions. There are two variants in the catalogue: either beige mélange fabric with white structure, or dark gray with graphite. The padding is made of quick dry foam.

How has the world of outdoors evolved and what are the new trends for 2018?

“For 2018 we’ll see a soft-lined design with precious details borrowed from the indoor furniture, such as the combination of different materials and the extreme sophistication of fabrics, with particular attention to technological innovation.”

The open spaces – terraces, courtyards and pool areas – have become an extension of home environments. In this way, Talenti’s proposals are very interesting: furnishings and accessories made in Italy where a technological heart, using weather resistant treatments and materials, combines stylistic research that makes the outdoor living more and more sophisticated.
