“This is a very special project thanks to a collaboration with the prestigious Dutch sculptor Xander Spronken”
Xander’s work, based on the manual work of wrought iron, instills character into the house, and its strength is present in every corner and detail of the house.
The house is in a mountain environment in the hinterland of Castellón. Despite its mountainous sorroundings, the area on which the house is located is flat and has magnificent views of the Natural Park of Peñagolosa to which the house is essentially oriented.
The concrete pillars, the wooden beams coming from the pylons of Rotterdam´s port and the iron and glass carpentry, show their true essence, without any artifices that could mask their character. Likewise, light plays another major role, flooding the home and appearing with games of light and shadow during the course of time that enhances the expressiveness of the materials.
The project is divided into two modules, one for the main house and the other one as a guest pavilion. Each of the modules is understood as a dwelling in itself, and the distribution of space is clear and transparent, with a ground floor and a small loft, both with great spatiality and openings to the outside. Without a doubt, if something is special about this home, it is its materiality.
