International Cultural Exibition Centre Italy/Cina
A piece of “made in Italy” design for the headquarters of the prestigious Chinese association in Milan. AReA_Caviasca signs a collaboration with HOAA (House of Art and Artist), a Chinese association specializing in art and design, designing spaces dedicated to the exchange of cultures between international artists.
AReA_Caviasca has reinterpreted the industrial spaces of the mid-1900s for the Milan office of the Asian association located in the Bovisa area, thus confirming the desire to strengthen relations between the atelier and the most important Chinese cultural realities.
The HOAA space is a two-storey loft in perfect industrial style, a large and bright open space, with large windows and exposed vaults.
AReA_Caviasca worked with clarity, aiming to obtain a sober and clean style.
The design research aims at the exaltation of simplicity and the correct use of materials, creating an interesting varied game, where the essence of the surface is mixed with the clean lines of the design. Wood, brick, concrete, glass, create contiguous spaces where the furniture and creativity of the users are both the protagonists.
For the lower floor space, a floor in solid wood, typical of the Venetian warehouses of the 1700s, defines the meeting place for artists.
Upstairs, a smooth concrete beaten contrasts with the vault to create an exhibition space with lights and shadows. Essential furnishings dominate the space of the workshop room dedicated to design, wooden tables contrast with multimedia technology, the modular double-sided open bookcase becomes the image of the multiethnic role of HOAA represented by the essences of Wengè, Ash, Ebony Makassar, Padouk, Maple, Walnut and Cherry.
