OLUCE Coupé will be celebrating its 50th birthday
Half a century and still standing the test of time. The Oluce Coupé lamp remains a contemporary piece of furniture that any design buff would want in their house.
Designed by the legendary Joe Colombo in 1967, the Coupé lamp was initially conceived as a variation of the Spider series (as part of the Oluce range and created by Colombo) of which it has kept its base and metal stem. Over the years, the company has added various Coupè types to its catalogue: along with the historical floor lamp, also the spherical, table, and wall lamps have been designed. Coupé has now become a lighting icon of Italian design. In 1968, Coupé won the ”International Design Award” of the American Institute of Interior Designers in Chicago and it is part of the permanent collections at both the MoMA in New York and the “Neue Sammlung” Museum in Munich.
To celebrate Oluce’s 50th anniversary, a new version of the classic floor lamp style has been designed. 500 numbered pieces of this innovative limited edition featuring a gold trimmed finish are available. Finally, the base of the lamp is embellished by the 50th anniversary engraving.
