GUCCI GARDEN, FLORENCE
A museum, a shop and a restaurant: Gucci Garden is the new creative venue of the renowned Italian fashion house, a unique place where fashion, art and haute-cuisine meet.
The Gucci Garden is located in the heart of Florence, inside the fourteenth-century Palazzo della Mercanzia overlooking Piazza della Signoria. Here, in 2011, the Gucci Museo was opened; today the brand has chosen to go beyond that concept to celebrate its eclecticism and historicity in an innovative way. The project was curated by Alessandro Michele, creative director at Gucci.
The Gucci Garden Galleria
The name Garden derives from the vast use of floral references, which have always been present in the details or decorative patterns of many items by the maison.
Inside the building there is the Gucci Garden Galleria, consisting of two floors displaying clothing and accessories taken from historical archives integrated with video installations and works of art. The settings are signed by important partners of the brand, such as the artists Jayde Fish,Trevor Andrew (aka GucciGhost) and Coco Capitán. Tickets for the Gallery cost 8 euros; half of the money is donated to finance restoration projects in the city of Florence.
On the ground floor there is a boutique selling items designed exclusively for the Gucci Garden and a restaurant named Osteria Francescana, a “detachment” of the Bolognese restaurant run by Massimo Bottura, a three-Michelin-star chef. For this place, Bottura has specially created a menu based on Italian gastronomy with international influences.
