GOLDEN PALACE, TURIN
The stone cladded Palazzo Toro was designed by Decker architects and built in the post war period. Studio Simonetti lastly turned it into a luxury five-star hotel.
The design inspiration was drawn by colours and symbols of Olympic myths, as gold, silver and bronze, while some Deco style details were preserved and matched with furnishings, interactive plasma monitors and artistic installations specially created by contemporary artists like Fabrizio Plessi and Giovanni Lombardini. Plessi’s video sculpture, a stone monolith that evokes metals, movement and energy, is the catalyst of the hall. Marble is the main feature of floors and walls, combined with burnished brass and onyx furniture.
Golden Palace Hotel: exteriors and entrance hall.
Even the interior design of the rooms follows the leitmotiv of the Olympic collection of medals proposing natural shades inspired by ochre, grey and bronze colours mixed with rosewood and oak wainscoting and furniture. In every detail the luxury courteously flows in the interior area emphasized by the black marble with gold fragments and illuminated through the natural and artificial light coming from the huge glazed cupola of the hall, which represents an architectonic change of the building.
Golden Palace Hotel: American bar and restaurant.
From an architectonic point of view the two buildings, GoldenOne and GoldenTwo, have been connected with a tunnel on the first floor. The two buildings offer different kinds of rooms for dimension and use so to satisfy both leisure and business needs. All lightnings in the rooms and in the common areas were designed as pieces of furniture: wainscoting, carpets, handles, lights, crockeries, except for some important pieces that have been chosen amongst the best items. The restaurant has been extended with a large bow-window that overlooks the internal courtyard between the two buildings and an outdoor area.
